HAJIME Organic Japanese Sencha Green Tea Loose Leaf 80g

HAJIME Organic Sencha Green Tea offers an authentic loose-leaf experience shaped by the freshness, aroma and characteristic green profile of Japanese sencha. Modern tea drinkers increasingly look for beverages that provide a refined sensory ritual without added sugar, artificial sweetness or complicated preparation. Grown in Kagoshima and presented as certified organic, this premium sencha combines mellow umami, a clean aroma and gentle astringency within a versatile 80 g resealable bag. It is designed for adults seeking a traditional Japanese green tea that can be prepared as a focused hot infusion, a lighter everyday cup or a smooth cold brew for warm days.

The Science of Sencha Brewing Optimization

Sencha differs from powdered matcha because the processed whole leaves are infused in water and then removed. Japanese green-tea processing traditionally uses steaming to limit oxidation before the leaves are rolled and dried, helping preserve their vivid green character, fresh aroma and distinctive balance of savory and astringent notes.

Steaming and Aroma Preservation: Heating the leaves soon after harvesting helps control the enzymatic oxidation that would otherwise change their flavor and color. This contributes to the clean vegetal aroma and refreshing profile associated with Japanese sencha.

Umami and Astringency Balance: Green tea naturally contains amino acids and catechin-related polyphenols. Their relative extraction helps shape the combination of mellow umami, delicate sweetness and pleasant sharpness experienced in the finished cup.

Temperature-Controlled Extraction: Water temperature and steeping time strongly influence flavor. Moderately hot water and a short infusion encourage balance, while cooler cold-brew extraction generally produces a softer profile with reduced bitterness.

Brewing Guide

For a lighter everyday hot brew, place 2–3 g of leaves in approximately 180 ml of water at 80–90°C and steep for 40–60 seconds. Use up to 6 g for a fuller and more concentrated cup. The same leaves may generally be infused two or three times, with small adjustments to temperature and time. For cold brewing, combine 5–8 g of leaves with approximately 500 ml of cold water, refrigerate for around four hours and strain before serving. Adjust the amount of tea and extraction time according to personal taste.

Safety Information

Green tea naturally contains caffeine, although the amount in each cup varies according to the quantity of leaves, water temperature, infusion time and repeated brewing. People who are sensitive to caffeine may prefer a lighter infusion, cold brewing or avoiding the tea close to bedtime. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consider their total daily caffeine intake and seek professional advice when needed. Consult a healthcare professional if you use medication, have been advised to limit caffeine or experience an unexpected reaction. This product is a brewed food beverage rather than a concentrated green-tea extract. Reseal tightly after opening and store away from heat, direct sunlight, strong odors and humidity.
