Biocodex Enterol 250 mg | Supports Intestinal Balance During Antibiotic Use | 50 CAPS

The Science of Resilience: Deep Dive into Enterol

Discovered in 1923 by microbiologist Henri Boulard, the Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-745 strain remains the most extensively researched probiotic yeast globally. Its efficacy is documented in over 100 clinical trials, making it a gold standard for supporting the gastrointestinal tract. The primary advantage of Enterol lies in its fungal nature; because it is a yeast, it is inherently resistant to antibacterial antibiotics. This allows for a unique therapeutic window where the probiotic can be taken simultaneously with a prescribed antibiotic course to protect the gut microbiome from Day One.

The biological activity of Enterol is achieved through three sophisticated mechanisms of action:

• Pathogen Support: The yeast cells act as a decoy. Harmful entities like E. coli and Salmonella bind to the surface of the yeast rather than the intestinal wall, allowing them to be naturally flushed from the system.
• Enzymatic Clean-up: Enterol supports a clean luminal environment by secreting specific proteases. These proteins are designed to help the body break down and neutralize the metabolic byproducts and toxins often released by intrusive bacteria during digestive upsets.
• Barrier Reinforcement: Beyond temporary support, Enterol actively helps rebuild the gut’s natural defenses. It stimulates the production of Secretory IgA (sIgA)—the primary antibody of the mucosal immune system—and enhances the activity of digestive enzymes like disaccharidases, which improves nutrient absorption and preserves gut integrity.

Key Benefits & Support

Usage & Administration Guide

Enterol 250 mg is designed for flexibility across age groups. For adults, the standard intake is 1 to 2 capsules twice daily, depending on the level of digestive support required. For children, 1 capsule once or twice daily is typically recommended.

Administration for Children: For children under 6 years old or individuals who have difficulty swallowing capsules, the capsule can be opened and the powder mixed directly into room-temperature water, milk, or soft food such as fruit puree. To ensure the yeast remains viable, the mixture should be consumed immediately.

Temperature Sensitivity: Because Enterol contains live yeast cells, it must never be mixed with liquids or foods that are very hot (above 50°C/122°F), iced, or alcoholic, as these conditions will neutralize the probiotic activity.

Safety Information & Guardrails

While Saccharomyces boulardii has an excellent safety profile for the general population, specific precautions must be followed:

• Central Venous Catheter Warning: Patients with a Central Venous Catheter (CVC) must not use Enterol. There is a serious risk of fungemia if the yeast powder is accidentally introduced into the bloodstream.
• Immunocompromised Status: Individuals who are severely immunocompromised, critically ill, or currently hospitalized in an ICU setting should consult their physician before using any probiotic supplement.
• Antifungal Interactions: Because Enterol is a yeast, its activity will be neutralized if taken concurrently with oral or systemic antifungal medications.
• Adjunct Use: In cases of dehydration, Enterol should always be used alongside standard oral rehydration therapy (ORT), not as a replacement for it.
